My Story

Showreel

Tirzah's journey through her diagnosis of Stage 2 Breast Cancer and her subsequent advocacy efforts exemplify courage, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

At the age of 36, Tirzah received a diagnosis of Estrogen +, Progesterone low positive, HER2 negative, invasive carcinoma. She lives in Saskatoon with her husband, Ricky Forbes, and her two children, Vayda and Mason who were in Grade 12, and Grade 6 at the time. Despite the challenges she faced, Tirzah made a proactive decision to become an advocate for young women's health, emphasizing the importance of early detection and self-advocacy.

Through vulnerable and raw storytelling on platforms like TikTok, Tirzah's message resonated with millions worldwide. By sharing her journey openly, she inspired and empowered other women facing similar battles, fostering a sense of community and support.

Tirzah's advocacy efforts led to speaking engagements at notable events such as the CIBC Run for the Cure, where she served as the "Hope Speaker." Her compelling story helped raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, contributing to breast cancer research and support programs.

Tirzah's story reached even broader audiences through appearances on platforms like C95 fm's Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research and Natalie Jill's podcast "Midlife Conversations." These opportunities allowed her to share her message of hope, resilience, and the importance of early detection.
Tirzah actively participated in local fundraising events, including the Fashion Show Fundraiser with Choc 'la Cure & Dutch Growers in Saskatoon. By volunteering as a model and fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society's CIBC Run for the Cure, Tirzah continued her advocacy efforts on a grassroots level, engaging her community in the fight against breast cancer.

Tirzah planned and organized a Breast Cancer Awareness photoshoot campaign with Wigs.com, that features the stories of 8 survivors from Saskatchewan. Tirzah has always had a passion for photography, and in 2021 she started her own business called Tirzah May Photography. She is grateful that this skill has now given her the opportunity to use towards spreading awareness.

Through her advocacy work, Tirzah has not only brought attention to an important issue but has also offered hope and encouragement to those affected by breast cancer. Her efforts remind us of the power of compassion and empathy in creating positive change in our communities.
